4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but with some tweaks could be almost perfect., May 13, 2017

This review is from: HP ENVY 34-b010 34-inch Curved All-in-One Computer (Intel Core i7-7700T, AMD Radeon RX 460, 16GB RAM, 1TB hard drive, 256GB SSD, Windows 10), Silver (Personal Computers)
I've had one of these for a few weeks now, replacing a dying self-built i7 machine that was about 5 years old and had similar specs. I got the Envy with the 256GB SSD, the 1TB drive, the i7 processor, Radeon card, and 16GB of RAM. The good and the bad:

Good
---------
* It's pretty fast. I was worried it might be slower than my old i7 box - benchmarks say my old CPU and this machine's CPU are virtually identical in performance - but the Envy feels much faster and smoother most of the time, even driving this huge monitor.
* Boot times are remarkably fast. I haven't had a computer that booted this fast since my old Atari ST back in '87.
* It uses a LOT less power. I think the old i7 was a 70 or 90 watt part - this one's more like 30 watts.
* It's much less cluttered. I'm in a small apartment and was tired at looking at the tangle of cables snaking out of my old desktop, and the tangle of cables leading into my two monitors.
* The wifi in... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good value All-in-one PC but flawed, May 1, 2017
I was looking to replace my near 10 year old Sony Vaio LV All-in one PC, and was considering the new Dell XPS 27 All-in-one (quite expensive), Microsoft Surface Studio (too expensive), and HP Envy Curved 34 (too large). Managed to pick-up the top-of-the-range HP Envy All-in-one 27-b155qd from the HP website with a 20% spring discount for only $1600 excluding tax (RRP $2000), which is significantly cheaper than its peers.

Ordering from the HP website was tortuous though, even with a US mailing address and credit card (had to call to place order in the end).

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, however as pointed out by some of the professional reviews, the HP Envy 27 All-in-one does suffer from some design flaws.

The main culprit is the display, it is extremely reflective. This may benefit the touch-screen functionality but the glare can be very distracting. The other issue with the display is that colours tend to be washed out, especially when... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Crashed from day one and kept crashing., November 1, 2017

Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am very sad to report that I had to send this HP Envy 27 back. It kept crashing from the first day that I had it. I spent hours on the phone with HP trying to get it to work. The person from HP kept trying to reset it remotely but as soon as I would get off of the phone, it would go black screen. Sometimes the screen would come back on by itself only to crash again. It wouldn't load sometimes and would finally go black as the time dragged on. The person from HP told me that there was a bug with Windows 10 and that HP and Windows was working on it. I tried it for another few days but my husband and I finally gave up and decided to send it back after the black screen appeared to be permanent. It doesn't sound like anyone else had this trouble so maybe the computer that we got was a lemon. I was very disappointed that it didn't work out because I had done tons of research to find this computer in the first place. Any suggestions for a better computer?
